Ahmed Fouad Negm (1929-2013) was an Egyptian poet known as the 'Poet of the People.' Born in Zagazig, he wrote in colloquial Egyptian Arabic, making his poetry accessible to the masses. His work addressed themes of poverty, social justice, and political resistance. He won the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature and was a cultural icon of Egyptian protest movements.
