Biography
Kais Saied has served as President of Tunisia since 2019. Born in 1958 in Rades, he is a constitutional law professor who ran on an anti-establishment platform. In July 2021, he suspended parliament and assumed executive powers, a move his supporters saw as necessary reform and critics called a coup.
