Sam Ponnambalam

Samuel James Ivan Wilson Ponnambalam (January 9, 1875 – February 26, 1959), known as Sam Ponnambalam, was a prominent Sri Lankan Tamil politician and statesman. He served as a member of the State Council of Ceylon and was a leading advocate for Tamil rights during the colonial period. His contributions to Sri Lankan constitutional development and his advocacy for minority rights have been recognized by historians. Sam Ponnambalam was part of one of the most influential Tamil political families in Sri Lankan history.
